St. Patty's Seeley Style

Yes, I like holidays. I like the anticipation, the decorating, and just the plain out-of-the-ordinary about them. Yes, I go all-out...and yes, I am exhausted when it is all said and done. But, it's all about giving the kids a good time so they remember that their Mom loved them...right?

That being said...I truly appreciated all of the great advice regarding celebrations. (Paige - the Leprechauns only coming to clean homes worked like a charm!)

My kids are on Spring Break this week, so that adds to the excitement.

Our day started out a 4 a.m. when I left work for a trip to Wal -(Barf) - Mart to purchase some last-minute supplies. I made it home by 5 a.m. and Dane and I surveyed the home by 6 a.m. We then woke up our children so they could view the destruction.

Leprechauns invaded our home for St. Patty's Day. Everywhere they went, they left destruction, but they also left a treasure...Rolos (gold coins were all sold out.)

They knocked down all of our pictures...

They left this on the toilet bowl lid, we were shocked to open it and find this...

they turned our toilet water green!

They turned our piano bench around...

our coffee table upside down...

They turned our bench around and jumbled up the pillows...

they turned our couch around...

but they set a pretty table...

and although they stole our shoes, it was only to leave us treats. [For future reference: Leprechauns, please do not leave cake decorating glitter as your trail to lead us there. Although it looks nice, it is hard clean up and when stuck to feet dissolves into the skin and turns them green.]

We like our presents...

even Dane liked his new boxer shorts.

The Leprechauns turned our eggs green...someone wasn't thrilled.

Dane took this picture of me...it was supposed to be of my face...PERVERT!!

Here's Andrew's new shirt. It reads: "You're so LUCKY I'm not your kid."

Cassie's reads "LUCK of the IRISH."

Brooke's is the best...it reads, "Kiss me I'm American."

Elena's has a glitter shamrock with the words, "Ireland Forever" all around it.

Aren't they great?

After this, we went to see "Horton Hears a Who" (it was good) and then ate lunch at McDonald's. When we got home, I began preparing our "green" meal. No, we're not environmentalists, everything was literally green...except for the traditional corned beef.

We had green on our biscuits...

green peppers and cucumbers...

kiwi-strawberry punch...

pistachio pudding...

green Jell-O...

the lovely corned beef and cabbage with green beans...

and somehow the mashed potatoes were green, too!

A fun day was had by all!

Hope you had a great St. Patrick's Day!

Why is Easter less than a week away?

Wow! This is fantastic. I am coming to your house next year for St. Patty's (which will be strange, since we don't know each other). How do you do this after working all night? What a nice mom. I'm inspired. :)

Yeah, you guys tied. I bow down to your amazingness. I like that the leprechauns were mischievous but did not wreck anything...

If that is what you do for St. Patricks Day I cant wait to see what Easter is like! At Preschool (where I worked for 7 yrs. and where Kadence will go next year) the Leprechauns always manage to come in and destroy the classroom and we have to follow the clues to the "Pot of Gold" so it was fun to see that you do that too. Is that some traditional thing that I am not aware of or is it just coincidence (Is that how it is spelled?) that you do this too?? You are such a fun mom!

Wow! That caused me great anxiety. I am good to get the tree up for Christmas!

That is awesome! My kids want to know if you want to be their mom? Just for the holidays?

My best cleaners don't "believe" so our house wasn't clean enough for those little trouble makers to make a visit. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

You are awesome! You forgot to mention that you shared your green dinner with the Standages who were sick. (They were sick BEFORE eating your green food)

For my kids sake, let's hope the leprechauns don't take out the easter bunny on their way out!

I can't believe you went all out! I really wish I was a better mom like that! Okay, I don't really wish I was THAT into it, but I wish I was into it at all! You set a high standard! =)

WHEW! I am tired just reading this. Just make sure you don't tell my kids (when they are older) about all of this they will feel totally ripped off.

I'm gonna stop reading your blog if you don't stop making me feel like the worst mom in the world! Come on! Leprechauns? I think I'm doing good if I can get us all in to matching green shirts.
